To be fair I feel as though I am still improving as the
weeks go by and feeling more confident with my software skills and idea
generation. Evan If I don’t know how to do something I will ask Alex or “Google”
it to find the way. Though my attendance is still an issue I believe I have
been making more effort and the results show. I am always stuck in the dilemma whenever
something comes up and I am unable to attend I lose sight of what I should be
doing, better yet, where I should be and since missing classes means missing
vital information and help that will help me excel. My planning has improved and
this has helped me to get started on my work easier, for example, making a task
list for the things I need to get done like on the Christmas break. However I’m
still trying to continue to improve my punctuality and meet deadlines set, so
hopefully this time I will be ready to submit on time.
I have had more of a look at universities and top-up degrees
and I am actually finding some very interesting ones but I must make sure I am
excelling in my work to ensure I have no holdbacks for when I apply. Even though
I am still living at home, my plans for my final year are to move out, closer
to the area of study.
I have also started looking at work experience opportunities
for summer this year. Last year I was very lucky to have the chance to work in
London with Nokia. This opportunity arose as a relative of mine works as the senior
researcher in one of the departments and was able to put in a good word for me
and get me two weeks working with the mobile phone services team where I was to
create my own web app for the series 40 phone. I also has the opportunity after
to work with a small UI and UX design company in London that specialise in
creating iPhone and IPad applications.
These industries and work will be great for my CV and I am
now currently looking for similar experience for this year to help improve my portfolio
and experience. However I may not have the chance to work in London again, but I
am looking for places around Manchester and Huddersfield this time.
