Action points from last tutorial:

Following a conversation on the phone
Shaan and I have arranged a meeting to talk about the below points.
Discussions between my self and Shaan
have been focused on attendance.
There is also an outstanding unit that
we need to look at.

Progress
With regard
to the outstanding Unit 6 I have explained to Shaan that he has not
technically passed the first year.
A prolonged
period of sickness has stopped Shaan attending this semester.
Shaan has had
a lot of personal difficulties at home and socially, involving repeated
attacks on his brother, which have impacted on his family causing his father
to become ill and putting pressure on Shaan to look after his family.
My concern
now is how Shaan can complete a very large amount of work in a very short
time with the pressures discussed.
I have
discussed Exceptional Factors with Shaan and he feels that is not going to
help, but I have provided the link below so that he can reconsider this.

Actions
Units:
No work was
present during this tutorial. Actions are in order of priority (remember to
go back to the Briefing Sheets):
1. Unit 6: Finish this ASAP
2. Unit 7: Student Awards. Shaan has been working on
the Tree Hugger brief. He feels he is not very far with it. Work out what
your Museum and who it is aimed at, then you can work on the logo. Go and
visit a museum - take pictures, collect leaflets, look at signage.
3. Unit 8: Shaan has his blog in place but will need to
organize it following the structure as emailed. Shaan has the document. I
have suggested to Shaan that he just concentrate on the personal blogger
section.
4. Unit 7: Drinks. Shaan feels he is doing OK with the
project and we have discussed his progress. No work was present but we have
discussed the deliverables.
5. 100% attendance from this point on. Please notify
your relevant tutor by 9:45 wherever possible of any absence.
Considering the circumstances I have advised Shaan
to get as much work completed as possible for the deadline below, but we may
consider submitting late, with an aim to reach a pass within 10 working days.
Shaan has all the relevant documents discussed to
continue with the work above.

Progress
Following a
discussion we have established that:
·
You have not put in through UCAS – which limits your options for
progressing your study
·
Your current grade average is not high enough for the internal BA top
up course
·
You will need to work on your unit 8 for resubmission in September
·
A request for a Next Step interview is in place and I will notify you
ASAP on the time and date for that
Guidance for Resubmission of unit 8 – focusing on Semester Diary
Mark Brown visit x 2 / Parker Pen exercise / Purpose
visit / Roses Briefs arriving / Presentation for Soft Drink / Presentation
for Industry Contacts / Pricing and planning work / Rebrand exercise….
Unit 9
There was a
collection of areas that needed developing in your initial presentation.
You have
addressed most of the above your project plan to an adequate level.
1. Write up notes from tutorial
2. Develop research into a collection of areas as per
your plan
Sketchbook
shows note taking, planning and prepping for the start of your project and
areas for research. It should by now evidence research that you have carried
out and start to evidence direction from that research.
Unit 10
1.
Statement of Intent / Ideas for essay – Write out
all discussions and ideas from last week. Idea about brands past current and
future is working well in connection with Unit 9
2.
Records of readings – Take pictures put into
research blog page.
3.
